Ivan Pilný, the Minister of Finance, visited ELI Beamlines

On Monday, August 28th, 2017 Ivan Pilný, the Czech Minister of Finance, accompanied by Eva Zažímalová, the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and Petr Pavlík, Deputy Minister of Education, visited the ELI Beamlines facility.

Our guests had the opportunity to visit experimental and laser halls and test our virtual reality stations.

H.E. Moon Seoung-hyun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Czech Republic, visited ELI Beamlines and HiLASE laser centres on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.

Profesors from Japan visited ELI

On Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 we had the chance to invite two researchers from Japan. Both of them had a speech for our employees. Prof. Hosokoai from Photon Pioneers Center, Osaka University, Japan talked about Staging Laser Wakefield acceleration aiming for repeatable GeV-class accelerator. Dr. Yamamoto, from KEK - Photon Factory, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization had a talk about the development of Novel Undulator with a very short period length.

ELI Beamlines was visited by the Israeli Minister Ofir Akunis

The Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space Ofir Akunis with his delegation visited the ELI Beamlines and HiLASE laser centres in Dolni Brezany on the 26th of June 2017.

The most advanced High-Repetition-Rate Advanced Petawatt Laser System has arrived

The most advanced High-Repetition-Rate Advanced Petawatt Laser System (HAPLS) developed by LLNL (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) in cooperation with ELI Beamlines team has arrived in 62 crate yesterday at the ELI Beamlines loading dock to be installed an prepared for experiments in the upcoming months at the ELI facility by a team composed of specialists of LLNL and ELI Beamlines.

Bringing focused laser power to the football field. ELI experimental team won football cup

On Thursday 25.5.2017 we co-organized teambuilding event of three scientific facilities ELI, HiLASE and BIOCEV.

The morning was full of seminars about the goals of each facility. The afternoon part of the programme was a sport activity afternoon (football, volleyball, petanque, running). Our experimental team won the football tournament and our administrative team was on a third place. Our volleyball team was on the second place. A five kilometer run won our colleague from building team Jiří Vaculík.

ELI and European XFEL signed the Memorandum of Understanding

On Friday, April 28th, 2017 was signed Memorandum of Understanding between the European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility GmbH and Fyzikální ústav AV ČR, v. v. i. regarding their cooperation in the field of Photon Sciences

P3 LASER VACUUM CHAMBER COMPLETED

The picture shows the vacuum chamber P3 for laser-plasma interaction (LPI) experiments which will be installed in the experimental hall E3. It is one of the largest LPI chambers for civilian research, constructed by AVS and CADINOX companies
